HISTORY
As a Green Lantern, Sinestro claimed control of his homeworld Korugar as its protector. Many rejected his control but were powerless to overthrow it. Some escaped. Over time, some of these refugees were preyed upon by other forces in the universe.
Umaraal Jarta was one of these Korugarians. She and four others were abducted and put in cryostasis. They were found in Space Sector 2066, onboard a space station in the Sykriel Nebula, to be readied as sacrifices to the Paling but this was not to be their fate.[1]Sinestro brought the Korugarians to New Korugar, a former prison planet, now home to the Sinestro Corps and others who survived Korugar's demise.[2]
The Korugarians feared and despised Sinestro but once more were powerless. Umaraal Jarta came forward as a spiritual advisor for her fellow refugees and soon developed a confidence with Green Lantern Soranik Natu.[3]
The murder of Yellow Lantern of Sector 2095 cast the Korugarians as suspects, though she knew it was not her people that were murderers.[4] The rapport between Umaraal Jarta and Soranik Natu did not change when Soranik lost her green ring with the disappearance of the Green Lantern Corps and her becoming one of the Sinestro Corps.[5]
Defectors in the Sinestro Corps made ready to eliminate Umaraal Jarta but were taken down by Sinestro and his loyalists.[6] She would continue as advisor for her fellow Korugarians as New Korugar was terraformed into a paradise.[7]
The Sinestro Corps and especially Sornaki Natu's fortunes would change over time. Umaraal Jarta's current status is not known.
