INTRODUCTION

The DC Character Chronologies are an effort to catalog the appearances of characters, teams, and major crossover events throughout the history of the DC Universe and place them in their proper chronological order.

Due to reality-altering events such as Crisis on Infinite Earths and Flashpoint, some characters' histories have undergone significant changes. Depending on the extent of these changes, different eras of a character's history may either be presented as separate chronologies or consolidated into a single page.

Covers characters published from 1937-present.

Chronology Notes

Chronology entries are listed alphabetically by the character's name, followed by their real name. Generally, the most common version of the name is used (e.g., Dick Grayson instead of Richard John Grayson). Names are listed in standard order: first name followed by surname.

Characters primarily known by a single name and title, such as Mister Bones and Queen Hippolyta, are listed under the first letter of their titles (M for Mister, etc.).

Gods and characters without a known secret identity who belong to a specific group may have the group name listed in brackets after the character's name to distinguish them from similarly named characters.

In some cases, entries may also include a comic age, timeline, or Earth designation used to distinguish different versions of a character or concept.

In the DCU Guide, cameo appearances refer to characters who do not physically appear in a story, but whose images are shown, for example as statues or in flashbacks to previously published stories. These appearances are either listed separately at the end of a chronology or omitted entirely.
