HISTORY

Major Blaze was the field leader of the Crimson Host, a Soviet metahuman strike team active during late 1940 and early 1941. The Host was commissioned to replace their predecessor, Vladimir Sokov, the original Red Lantern, whom the Soviet state deemed a liability.

During a confrontation in New York City, Major Blaze successfully intercepted Sokov, crushing his power battery and temporarily severing his connection to the Crimson Flame. As Green Lantern Alan Scott and the Justice Society of America joined the fray, Blaze found himself battling both the Red and Green Lanterns simultaneously while his teammates engaged the JSA. However, the victory was short-lived as Sokov recovered his strength and, in a localized explosion of pure rage, apparently vaporized Major Blaze and the entire Crimson Host.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

Major Blaze was developed from the project which empowered the Red Lantern. Differences remain in how they wield the Crimson Flame as Major Blaze has demonstrated his bare right arm is engulfed in red fire. He primarily strikes opponents with a charged punch. It is presumed he has enhanced stretch and endurance though this has not been officially documented.
