HISTORY
When a bio-tech firm called Repli-Tech was facing bankruptcy and criminal charges, the company chairman, Rex Rogan, came with a desperate idea – by using their technology on themselves they would get superpowers to raise their money. The board members agreed and the company's scientist Dr. Lovecraft converted them all into powerful animal-like creatures. Rogan became the lion-man called Maximus Rex while his girlfriend became the panther-woman Reena. Together with the sperm whale creature Gargantus, the wolfman Rowl, a rhino-man called Horn, a snake-man and several others, they were – the Ani-Men. The Ani-Men began a successful career in several criminal areas to raise their capital. The JLA opposed them but weren't able to defeat them until the Ani-Men started to involuntarily evolve into savage beast. Finally, they were all animals with no human traits left.
