HISTORY

A doctor in his native India, Jivan Shi felt resentment as he believed the medical establishment in the Uniited States looked down upon foreigners.

He was working in Arizona when he became romantically involved with one of his patients. Summer Day was under treatment to learn selfcontrol and prevent herself from becoming the bestial Hyena. One night however, she transformed and attacked Shi. He was not badly harmed, but now he too was cursed as a were-Hyena.

Shi travelled with Day when she returned to New York. He would practice at a local hosspital, but here too he felt demeaned. That anger bubbled over causing him to change into the second Hyena. It was not long before he came into conflict with Firestorm. Unknowingly, in a separate incident he had struck Ronnie Raymond, who was half of the Firestorm persona. Now the Nuclear Man was also cursed to be a were-Hyena.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

Like Summer Day, Jivan Shi also becomes a were-hyena, a creature with sharp claws and teeth, as well as enhanced strength, endurance and agility.
