OVERVIEW

Young Chinese-American Wing How was the private chauffeur and later the costumed sidekick of the first Crimson Avenger. In the 1940s, Wing became a member of the All-Star Squadron and the unofficial "8th member" of the Seven Soldiers of Victory. He sacrificed his life in battle against the Nebula Man in 1948.

HISTORY

Arriving from his native China as a very young man, Wing How taught himself to speak English well enough in a week to land a job as chauffeur and aide to Lee Walter Travis, publisher of the New York Globe-Leader. After several months in his employ, Wing felt he was familiar enough with Mr. Travis to rebuke what he saw as his shallow liberalism in only writing about the ills of society and doing nothing concrete to change them. He encouraged Travis' leap into masked do-gooder and aided him as his driver and sidekick.

After a while, after Travis as The Crimson Avenger adopted a tight-fitting crimson outfit, Wing followed with a costume of his own, in a sort-of reverse color scheme. Wing followed The Crimson Avenger as they both joined both the Seven Soldiers of Victory and the All-Star Squadron.

As the years wore on, however, both Travis and Wing curtailed their adventuring, only appearing with the Seven Soldiers after a while. On their final mission, as they were betrayed by the Spider, Wing sacrificed his life to destroy the Nebula Man, finally seeing himself for the hero that he was all along.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

Wing was an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, teaching the Crimson Avenger both judo and karate. He was an excellent driver as well as proficient in auto mechanics and electronics.
