Let my love light the way. - Ahura-Mazda

OVERVIEW

Locked in eternal battle against his counterpart and brother Ahriman, the god of evil, Ahura-Mazda is the god of light and goodness in the ancient Persian religion known as Zoroastrianism.

HISTORY

According to legend, Ahura-Mazda has since the beginning of time been the benevolent spirit, Spenta Mainyu, while the evil spirit, Angra Mainyu, is personified by Ahriman. Ahriman's taint upon creation made the world what it is today, an imperfect amalgam of good and evil. Although constantly at odds with his brother Ahriman, Ahura-Mazda will one day be victorious, and with the help of the Amesha Spentas (the holy immortals, roughly equal to an angel or a minor deity) and the Saoshyant (the saviour), he will raise the dead and purify the world.

In our times, Ahriman killed Ahura-Mazda and fled to Earth with his brother's living heart. In Las Vegas, Ahriman was finally captured by Ahura-Mazda's lover, Nu'bia, and her fellow Amazon Wonder Woman, and brought back to the mythic realms. It is believed that Nu'bia then engineered Ahura-Mazda's resurrection.
