HISTORY

Nellewel 3 in Sector 731 is a mining world valued for its massive radioactive ore deposits. Its most dangerous feature is the Boiling Sea, which is held back from mining outposts by a single massive dam. When earthquakes damaged the dam, Green Lantern John Stewart led rookies Ergann, Feska, Jruk and Maro to the planet to stabilize the structure. At a critical moment, the Lanterns' power rings malfunctioned, leaving them unable to hold the dam. The native Nellewelians believed this was another failure of the Green Lantern Corps as distrust in the ring wielders was spreading across the stars.

The dam was saved by the arriving Khunds who claimed Nellewel 3 under their protection and the Green Lanterns would be executed for their trespass.Moments before the Khunds could make good on the threat, the power rings reactivated and the Lanterns were able to defend themselves and leave the planet.
