History
Two thousand years ago, after the alien Green Lantern Yalan Gur had almost been killed by a yellow beast, his masters, the Guardians of the Universe decided to remove the weakness of things yellow from his Power Ring. The now absolute power of the Power Ring corrupted Yalan Gur, and he let himself be worshipped as a tyrannical god in ancient China. The Guardians answered by making his green power vulnerable to wood. Subsequently, Yalan Gur was defeated and mortally wounded by mere Chinese peasants attacking with wooden sticks. Falling to the Earth, Yalan Gur burned in Earth's atmosphere. But his soul was absorbed by his power battery and later fused with the mystical "Starheart" (a supernatural creation of the Guardian's green power). It crashed as a meteor in China, after which a man named Chang made a lamp of the molten green metal. This lamp went through several incarnations, until it became the Power Battery of Green Lantern Alan Scott in the 1940s. In recent years, the power of the lamp (referred to as "the Green Flame") has become an internal part of Alan Scott, and now even makes up his entire body.
