Profile written by Jim 'Zilch' Doty
Overview
First appearing in public in 1942, the Unknown was a man about whom (appropriately enough) virtually nothing was or is known. His name, nationality, and motivation all remain a mystery. Clad in a red hood and cloak and blue pants, but exposing his bare chest, the Unknown had incredible strength and a certain degree of invulnerability. He battled the Axis powers in Europe, helping any decent man who needed him, until disappearing from the scene in 1944.
As Allied intelligence increased after the US entry into World War II, reports began filtering in of an unaffiliated freedom fighter that was causing major disruption to Nazi operations in Eastern Europe. He was able to destroy and disable operations and agents of the Reich throughout the entire theatre of operations. Gaining the trust of underground freedom fighters in several nations, the man known only as The Unknown shut down rail lines and killed or disabled many high-ranking Nazi and sympathizer forces.
Unable or unwilling to link up with other Allied support, The Unknown operated without the aid or acknowledgement of Allied spy network but was very efficient anyway.
His last recorded mission occurred shortly before the Allied invasion of France in June of 1944. Whether he survived or linked up with Allied agents, and his status after the War is... Unknown.
The Unknown had no known metahuman abilities, but was a master of disguise, and able to speak several languages well enough to be mistaken for a native.
He was proficient as a hand-to-hand fighter, and knowledgeable about many weapons.
