History
Gary Concord Jr. was born in 2214, the son of Gary Concord Sr. (a.k.a. Ultra-Man III, a hero born in the 1950s but active during the 22nd and 23rd centuries) and Leandra (the daughter of the tyrant Rabborizon). When his father died from old age in 2239, Gary Jr., who had inherited his father's size and strength, was chosen to succeed him as High Moderator. The hero career of the new Ultra-Man was a successful one, during which he battled the warlord Tor, among other menaces. Just like his father, Ultra-Man Jr. was put into suspended animation for centuries, and did not resurface until the 100th century. The 31st heroine XS (of the original Legion of Super-Heroes) encountered Ultra-Man IV during a time travel courtesy of the Time Trapper, and gave him the impulse to found a new Legion of Super-Heroes. On the planet Almeer-5, Ultra-Man created the new Legion of the 100th century, together with fellow heroes Avatar (II), Behemoth (II), and Metallica.
