  Timothy Ravenwind first encountered the Swamp Thing when the plant elemental had floated up on the coast of Maine. In the town called Divinity, a superstitious lynch mob attempted to kill Tim's older sister Rebecca, whom they believed to be the last of the infamous "Ravenwind Witches". Actually, the last Ravenwind Witch was little Timothy, focusing his power through his sister. A stunned Swamp Thing saw how Tim transformed the mob into flowers. Years later, Rebecca died from cancer. Timothy grew up and hid his magic under a stage magician act. He was eventually asked to join a supernatural alliance called the Lodge and oppose the now-omnipotent Swamp Thing who was intent on re-building the world. Timothy Raven, as he now called himself, got the mission to invoke the spirit of Anton Arcane.
