History

  Doctor Thomas Wayne and his wife Martha were rich and famous celebrities of Gotham City before being mugged and shot to their deaths by an unknown gunman (who may or may not be the Joe Chill Batman encountered years ago) after seeing the movie The Mark of Zorro with their son Bruce. Bruce survived the crime, but devoted his life to revenge and the preventing of similar events, becoming the crime fighter the world now knows as Batman.
