History

  Young bank robber Toby Manning was abducted by the alien Collector in the late 19th century, who (after accidentally killing Toby's father) raised the boy as his own in his spaceship, empowered him and equipped him with several high-tech weapons and a flying horse named Nova. In the 20th century, Manning returned to Earth as a super-villain. He put together a weapons arsenal based on themes from the Old West, and became Terra-Man - the space desperado. Terra-Man became a recurrent and dangerous foe of Superman throughout the 1970s and 80s. In his last appearance, the pre-Crisis Terra-Man was humiliatingly defeated by the Blue Devil.
