History

When the Swamp Thing (Alec Holland) was lost in space, the Parliament of Trees believed him dead and started arranging for a replacement to be created. Hence, the creation of the elemental spirit called the Sprout. Upon returning to Earth, Swamp Thing was told that two Plant Elementals could not co-exist, unless they would bring disaster to Earth. Either Holland had to take roots among the Parliament...or he'd have to kill the Sprout. Swamp Thing neglected both options. He averted the Parliament's first attempt to create a body for the Sprout, which resulted in the creation of the insane Wild Thing. Later, the Sprout tried to gain a life by possessing the body of Solomon Grundy, but Grundy thwarted him. Finally Swamp Thing came up with the solution to create a new breed of Plant Elementals in human form. Possessing John Constantine's body to impregnate his wife Abigail, the Swamp Thing fathered a child of which the Sprout's spirit was a part. The Sprout was eventually reborn as Tefé Holland, the newest Swamp Thing.
