History

Thought to be an alien ship, this quantum lifeform crashed into the desert in 1967, and was found by Anton Sarrok, Heinrich Megala, Ashana and Damon Long. Cutting into him with an X-ionized knife, the energy release killed Damon and crippled Megala. The psychic feedback also linked Anton to the Silver Shield, and unhinged his mind. The metal taken from the Silver Shield was used to help create Captain Atom and Major Force. Wade Eiling attempted to move the Silver Shield when the government was going to close the air force base they built around him. The move startled the Silver Shield, and he cut off access to the quantum field for Captain Atom and Major Force, leaving the Captain powerless for a time, and the Major trapped in his own matter. The Silver Shield later allowed them access to the field again, and revealed itself as a lifeform that flowed through quantum space and ended up being separated from its fellows when it found a hole to earth. Silver Shield adapted a four-armed humanoid form (missing a hand, like Major Force), and Captain Atom tricked the government into believing the Silver Shield was dead. He sent him to live with Chester and Bonnie King. Silver Shield was instrumental in connecting Captain Atom with the quantum field, and allowing him to make piece with his dead wife Angela, as well as free Rick Flag, Jr. from hell (reuniting him with Karin Grace in the afterlife). Silver Shield now lives with Chester, Bonnie and their daughter Beth.
