  A wealthy young boy, Brian K. Durlin was unable to properly distinguish the passage of time, meaning that past and present were hopelessly confused for him. This meant that he never achieved high grades in school despite his high IQ and advanced physical abilities. Drifting from project to project, both in America and Greece, he eventually became wanted by the Athenian police and returned to the United States. Here he hit upon the idea of becoming a hero, but an encounter with Batman, who was angered that he had decided to chase an arsonist rather than rescue his victims, soon put a stop to that. Refining his skills with a computer, he became an information broker, extortionist and blackmailer. Four years after his encounter with Batman, he used these skills to kidnap Black Canary in an attempt to force Oracle to reveal Batman's identity. His plan was foiled, his painstakingly gathered information wiped, and Savant was imprisoned. However, he soon began plotting to escape...
