History

  Bruce Wayne's bodyguard, Sasha had not long been in his employ before she became irritated by his disappearances and refusal to do what she tells him to. She realised early on that his stupidity was at least partly an act and on a trip to Washington, discovered something rather suprising - her employer spends his nights as Gotham's defender Batman... She expressed a desire to help him in this role, even if only by covering for him and pretending that she is actually needed in her job. She remained loyal to him, even served time, implicated in the murder of Vesper Fairchild which was allegedly committed by her employer. This was partly out of a sense of duty, but also because she realised shortly before the murder that she loved him.

  Sasha later joined the ranks of the Checkmate organization where she became Black King Maxwell Lord's Bishop. When Maxwell Lord took control of Brother MK I, a semi-autonomous AI survailance system created by Batman, he set loose a virus which turned people into OMAC Units under his control. While Sasha was infected with the virus it lay dormant until she was impaled by another OMAC unit. This activated the virus but instead of turning her into an OMAC unit she was turned into a hybrid still in control of her own actions. Detonating a bomb within the core of Brother MK I many of the nanobots that were now part of her being were destroyed and she became more human than machine.

  She stayed as part of the Checkmate organization when it was reorganized. Here she met and fell in love with White King, Michael Holt also known as Mister Terrific. During the event dubbed 'Final Crisis' she was infected with the anti-life and had to shut down her cybernetic organs effectively putting her in a state of coma.
