  Son of King Kilo Kenboya of the Zambesi tribe, Rupert "Ken" Kenboya grew up in a small African village, but got his education in the U.S., where he met his best friend Mike Maxwell. Rupert eventually returned to his home nation as a police officer in order to introduce his villagers to the benefits of modern civilization. Mike remained by his side. When Rupert's village was threatened by the immortal villain called "He Who Never Dies", Mike discovered the ancient helmet and serum that transformed him into the heroic B'wana Beast. Together, the Beast and Rupert fought crime in Africa for years. Rupert was eventually killed by nationalist rebels.
