  Named after Prometheus, the Titan of Myth, Promethium was a self-generating metal and power source invented by Dayton Industries to solve the world's energy problems. Although that never became the case, it has proved a valuable substance in several industrial and scientific areas. The criminal organization known as H.I.V.E. assigned the super-villain Puppeteer, a former scientist at Dayton Industries, to steal the Promethium Formula. The Puppeteer murdered fellow council members Arthur Koda, Jeremy Thornton, Soren Winslow, and Harold Appleton before his plans were thwarted by the New Teen Titans. Promethium was also substantial in the creation of several meta-humans, including the Hybrid, Pantha, and Kole. Arsenal (III) uses Promethium wire as part of his weapons arsenal.
