History

  Originally an alien scientist - variously known as Kell and Mossa - who committed the sin of uncovering the veils of time, and get a glimpse of the birth of the Universe. This caused a chain reaction that awakened the greatest adversary our universe has ever known - the Anti-Monitor. Freed to destroy our universe, the Anti-Monitor consumed Kell’s world. As punishment, Kell became a Pariah, the sole surviving witness of the Anti-Monitor’s continuing rampage throughout the universe. Pariah was eventually recruited by the fiend’s positive counterpart - the Monitor - to assist him and a cadre of heroes in defeating the Anti-Monitor. The Crisis was averted, but Pariah’s curse remained. Now and forever, he was doomed to witness disaster but unable to prevent it. After years of doing nothing but crying at the site of many great cataclysms, Pariah finally decided to do something more constructive, and started cooperating with the Harbinger to oversee the time/space continuum. Pariah was last seen when the JLA encountered the forgotten timeline of the Moon Maiden.

  [Note: Originally, Pariah was from a parallel Earth and caused the destruction of the Multiverse. However, the resolution of the Crisis on Infinite Earths partly undid its own history, so that no Multiverse or parallel Earths existed at the time of the start of the Crisis as it happened. Hence, Pariah is now supposed to have been the native of another faraway planet.]
