HistoryIn ancient Greek mythology, Nymphs are the female spirits of nature. They exist all over the world and seem to have close connections to the Elementals. According to the Greeks, there are five known kinds of Nymphs: Dryads (tree spirits), Naiads (spirits of lakes and rivers), Oreads (spirits of the mountains), and Nereids and Oceanides (sea spirits). Other folklore speaks of still more kinds, like the Leimoniads (meadow spirits), the Potamids (river spirits), the Hamadryads, the Mamadryads, the Meliads (various kinds of tree spirits), the Heleads (fen spirits), the Epimeliads (protectors of sheep), and several others. The Nymphs are rarely seen by humans, but some of them have befriended Black Orchid's friend Nick, and have regular meetings near his home in Ireland. Although the creatures known as the Black Orchids (I-III) are not of the same kind, some believe them to be a new breed of Nymphs.
