  One of the most horrific events in the life of John Constantine. In 1978, Constantine and his "magic gang" (Anne-Marie, Benjamin Cox, Emma, Frank North, Gary Lester, Judith, and Ritchie Simpson) opted to combat the hellhound Norfulthing who haunted the Casanova Club in Newcastle. Fighting fire with fire, Constantine summoned the demon Nergal to combat the hellhound, and it resulted in disaster. The girl Astra Logue (who had summoned Norfulthing in the first place to to protect her from her father's sexual abuse) was accidentally sent to Hell, Ben Cox was raped by Norfulthing, and John himself spent the two next years in the Ravenscar mental asylum. Nergal and Constantine would cross paths several times after this event. Only decades later, on a visit to Hell, was John able to save the soul of Astra Logue from damnation.
