  Colonel Nelson Strong was a big game hunter and chairman of the board of the fabled Adventurers' Club who had dedicated his life to hunting "monsters". After experiencing several horrific adventures with the Adventurers' Club, Strong made a futile attempt to capture the Swamp Thing, which ultimately ended in Strong's death. He was briefly revived by the Parliament of Stones to serve as their elemental champion, but was dissolved into gas in yet another encounter with Swamp Thing. When alive, Strong was a braggart and had a trophy room filled with stuffed monsters he had allegedly killed. However, several of these creatures are still known to be alive (including Chemo, Gorilla Grodd, and the Creature Commandos), meaning that Strong was delusional and the "stuffed" monsters probably natural-looking replicas.
