History

In 1939, a Thanagarian soldier named Paran Katar was sent to Earth as a spy. As "Perry Carter", he soon dropped his mission and befriended Earthling Carter Hall, secretly helping him discover the Nth metal, which Carter used to become the heroic Hawkman. In 1951, Paran returned to Thanagar with a Cherokee named Faraway Woman (or "Naomi Carter") with whom he had fallen in love. However, Naomi was appalled by the racism of Thanagar, providing covert humanitarian aid to the planet's Downside. In the 1960s, she chose to return to her native Earth, but first gave birth to a son named Katar Hol. Paran would tell Katar that his mother died in childbirth. In recent years, Katar Hol became the new Hawkman on Earth. The aged Naomi approached him and told him about his Native American heritage. Katar became good friends with his mother, and had good use of her knowledge in shamanism. When Katar left for another dimension to fight the evil Hawkgod, Naomi carried on her life and awaited Katar's return. Her reaction to the recent revelation that her son died in the other dimension, is not known.
