In 1932, gangsters murdered a relatively innocent man name Peter. His friends, Rabbi Rava, the Chinese carpenter Han, and Alice Cohen, a seamstress he was in love with, collected some of his blood. With the blood and Rabbi Rava’s knowledge of Kabalistic magic, they made a Golem and brought it to life to seek revenge. After killing his murderers, the Monolith continued to hunt criminals, brutally dispatching them. When he crippled a boy that they knew, Rava, Han, and Alice decided that he had to be stopped. After getting him drunk, they walled him up in an underground tunnel and placed a spell to keep him there. Alice eventually bought a house over the tunnel and kept him company during his imprisonment.
Alice eventually died and left the house to her granddaughter, also named Alice. This Alice, a drug addict and former prostitute, at first did not want the responsibility, but when she was trapped in her basement by her drug dealer, she unleashed the Monolith once more. The Monolith once again began hunting evildoers with Alice attempting to control his violent nature.
