  On the brink of suicide after his wife's death in a car crash, Michael Holt was confronted by the Spectre, who told him of the original Mister Terrific. Inspired by the Spectre's words, Holt took up the identity and began to act as a 'new' kind of hero, down to earth and accessible. He uses his athletic and scientific skills to great advantage in this, also working for Tylerco., advising them on security measures. Holt has impressed those Golden Age heroes who have met him, as they are pleased to see the tradition of their fallen comrade carried on. He has joined the JSA and has thus far proven to be an incredibly competent and focussed addition to the team, even voted in as their chairman.
