Profile written by David Haglund

"'A' slays 'B' and then 'B' slays 'A'. For all eternity, they mirror the deeds of times more vital. Can a being be more dead than this?"

Overview

Mindless beings who were once the Old Gods, the Dreggs inhabit the catacombs below Apokolips.

History

The largest group of surviving Old Gods today are the mindless beings known as the Dreggs, who fight never-ending battles and wander aimlessly through Necropolis, the ruins of their old world below the surface of Apokolips. The Dreggs are practically walking corpses without purpose. Power and brute force are the only things that affect them.

Metron of New Genesis has theorized that the Old Gods will not be resurrected until such a time when Darkseid poses a threat to all existence and there are no New Gods left to face him. Metron has also concluded that every time someone resists the tyranny of Darkseid, the Dreggs are brought one step closer to life. Recently, Metron witnessed the resurrection of the first Old God. A surge of positive energy brought the former Dregg back to life, who started reinvigorating his peers. 'It could be years before they are ready to emerge from those caverns,' Metron noted, 'But when they do, Darkseid is in for a surprise that could blast him out of existence.'
