History

  Brilliant scientist Caulder was researching possibilities connected to immortality, discovering too late that his financial backer was General Immortus, who wished to use these secrets for criminal ends. Faking his death (though losing his mobility in the process), he created the Doom Patrol in order to oppose Immortus. His character somehow held the group together until their apparent deaths at the hands of their enemies. Later discovered to be alive and well, Caulder has led a version of the Patrol for a great many years. His only major character flaw is his excessive love of secrecy.
