History
When a group of alien parasites came to Earth to feed on the populace and continue their race, they were opposed by Earth's super-human defenders, as all such invaders are. Their presence also had an unexpected effect, triggering the latent meta-human powers of many of their victims, sparking a sudden rise in the number of powered heroes and villains, who became known as the New Blood. It was these New Blood heroes who were able to stop the Taker, the offspring of these parasites, when Earth's regular defenders proved powerless.
