History

  Born on Gemworld, the daughter of the house of Amethyst, her father was King Amethyst, really a Lord of Order in disguise. This gives Princess Amethyst access to much greater magical power than anyone else on Gemworld.

  When the evil Dark Opal made his bid to take over Gemworld, Princess Amethyst's nanny, Citrina, cast a spell to put the young Princess on Earth, where, due to the conflict in the way time passes between Gemworld and Earth, she would return to infancy. She was adopted by the Winstons, who named her Amy. On her 13th birthday, Citrina opened the portal again and sent her an amethyst pendant that would let her travel between Earth and Gemworld at will; upon entering Gemworld, Amy went from 13-year-old to 20-year-old, and began learning to use her magic even as she learned of her true heritage. She and her allies eventually defeated Dark Opal, and other menaces to Gemworld as well. More recently, Amethyst seems to have become darker herself, but so far no explanation for that has been given.
