History

  The second son of Mera and possibly the third son of Aquaman. During the time when Mera was mind-controlled by Thanatos (I) and lived in his water dimension as his wife, she gave birth to a child that could have been either Aquaman's or Thanatos'. In memory of her first son, recently killed by Black Manta, she named him Arthur Junior, AJ for short. AJ grew up believing Thanatos was Aquaman.

  More recently Mera returned to Aquaman’s world, the truth was discovered, and Thanatos defeated. Since time flows differently in Thanatos' dimension, AJ is now over twelve years, even though Mera had only been missing for a few months. Furthermore, it was discovered that AJ can't exist in Earth's dimension without aging rapidly, which is why he and Mera returned to the water dimension.

  Still later, a menace called the Maritorn invaded AJ's dimension. Together, Aquaman, AJ and Mera defeated the evil conquerors. Mera then decided to go back to Aquaman, while AJ chose to stay behind. The people of his dimension now consider AJ to be their 'Aquaman', and rightful ruler.
