History

  Adeline Kane met Slade Wilson in the US Army, where she was his guerilla warfare instructor. The two soon married and had two sons, Grant and Joseph. During this time, Slade went through a series of experiments that transformed him into a metahuman, and started a career as the mercenary Deathstroke. After Joseph had been kidnapped and injured by one of Slade's enemies, Adeline divorced Slade and raised the boys by herself. She founded Searchers, Inc., a worldwide information network for espionage in the guise of a detective agency. But tragedy continued to strike. Grant was killed while attempting a mercenary career as Ravager (I). Joseph joined the heroic Titans as Jericho but was corrupted into becoming the evil Wildebeest and forced Slade to kill him. This created even more of a distance between Addie and Slade, something that did not stop Slade from save Addie's life with a blood transfusion some time later, a transfusion that made her immortal like him. Increasingly insane, Addie adopted the identity of the Vigilante (VI), and came into conflict with both Deathstroke and his half-brother, the terrorist known as Ravager (III). Next, Addie founded a new version of the criminal H.I.V.E. with the goal to rid the world of superheroes, since she blamed them for her sons' deaths. However, Vandal Savage kidnapped Addie in an attempt to get the secret of her immortality, slit her throat and emptied her body of the precious blood. Addie would have bled to death had she not been mercy-killed by Starfire of the Titans.
