  A scientist from Earth, Adam Strange was teleported to the planet Rann by one of that world's scientists, Sardath, becoming Earth's first interstellar spaceman. In Strange, Sardath created both a hero for his world and a husband for his daughter Alanna, many of the men of Rann being sterile. The effects of the zeta beam, which brought Strange to Rann were temporary, meaning that Strange often spent much time away from his wife (and, in time, child) waiting for the next beam to strike. Eventually, however, Sardath made the effect permanent. In recent years, Strange (an honorary member of the Justice League) has often worked as a diplomat, both for Rann and for Earth.
