Synopsis:

Having heard that her daughter Diana is injured, Hippolyta anxiously searches for her on the Paradocs space arc vessel. Using herbs supplied by the Amazon healer Epione, Hippolyta is able to make progress. The vessel then comes under attack from two Imperiex probes - Green Lantern (also injured) seals the hull breaches, and Diana goes missing, wanting to save the vessel. Hippolyta will not let her, and goes outside herself to fight the probes. One of them is ripped in half by the unbreakable lassoo which she has borrowed from her daughter, but they are able to launch a 'hollower' before the explosion, which heads straight for Athens. While Diana gives Green Lantern the support he needs to mend the hull breaches, Hippolyta battles to stop the hollower from destroying Athens.

As Hippolyta's skin begins to blister and burn from the effort, Diana comes to try and help her, or preferably take her place, but the other probe interferes. Desperate to prove that she is worthy of the name Wonder Woman, Hippolyta grapples with the probe, eventually causing it and the hollower to explode. From far away, Superman sees the explosion and flies in. Here he finds Diana, unsteady on her feet, but protected from the worst by the bracelets of Aegis she has always worn. Hippolyta, however, has fared much worse, her skin a mass of burns. As she breathes her last, Diana desperately tries to convey to her that she saved Athens and that she is after all, worthy of the name Wonder Woman. However, she fears that the last thing Hippolyta will have remembered before her death is Diana telling her to leave the struggle against the hollower, saying 'you're not Wonder Woman'...
