Synopsis:

The heroes of Opal regroup and plan their counterattack on Culp's forces with the help of Smudge, the only one of the Shade's shadows to stay true. Meanwhile, The Spider and The Shade confront one another, and Ted Knight remembers his former girlfriend Doris Lee, who wore the costume of Starman for one day...

Hippolyta was able to piece together clues from all of her male JSA colleagues' cases to realise they were all facing the same man. She called on Sheira Sanders, who would one day become Hawkgirl, and was joined by Inza Cramer (who would soon marry - and become part of - Dr Fate) in a mission to help them. They recruited the other halves of the rest of the JSA (those that had them), revealed their boyfriends' identities and together set out to help them. Among them was Doris Lee, using one of Starman's spare gravity rods. Arriving at the Brainwave's headquarters they were attacked by the villains' henchmen made to look like the JSA and soon overcome. However, Doris discovered an extra gravity rod in her costume and freed Hippolyta just as the JSA arrived, meaning that Brainwave was attacked from two sides and soon defeated. The girls' memories of the events were removed, but Doris would eventually learn of Ted Knight's secret before she died.

Back in the present, Opal's heroes move out on the offensive and Culp prepares for the end.
