We learn the history of Hamilton Drew, a great detective whose celebrated career began in 1911, and who investigated a number of supernatural cases alongside his more 'mundane' exploits. One of his tasks was to uncover evidence of Jon Valor's innocence, but in the midst of this he disappeared, only to reappear with many others some years later, rescued from the clutches of the 'poster demon'. He now lives in retirement, but has just been interrupted by the Elongated Man, who says that Opal City needs his help.
