Synopsis:
Imprisoned in Blackgate for life, Donnegan fashions a ventriloquist's dummy from the charred wood of the old gallows - a dummy that seems to have a life of its own, threatening to spill Donnegan's escape plans. When Donnegan gets a cell-mate, Arnold Wesker, he brutalises him. Then, when Wesker plans suicide, he is talked out of it. By the dummy. And Donnegan is fast asleep...
