Synopsis:

Martian Manhunter is summoned by the Phantom Stranger to assist the Sentinels of Magic in battle against the demon Etrigan at Stonehenge. However, in combat, Etrigan's demon fire affects him particularly badly. Dr Occult and Maame Xanadu tell him that to end the menace, they need to find Jason Blood, Etrigan's host. In order to do this, they split J'onn into his two identities as the Martian Manhunter and detective John Jones. The Manhunter identity keeps most of his abilities, except telepathy, which Jones takes with him to Blood's apartment.

At the apartment, he discovers Morgan Le Fay, who split Blood and Etrigan in order to obtain the philosopher's stone, but cannot find the latter. She shows Jones a tesseract jewel in which she has trapped Blood; Jones communicates with Blood, finds the location of the Stone and uses it to smash the tesseract jewel. The Sentinels are able to force Etrigan to give way to Jason Blood, who urges them to save John Jones, who has aroused Morgan Le Fay's wrath. She casts one spell and then prepares to kill him, but this spell is blocked by Dr Fate's timely arrival, causing it to redouble on the sorceress. It seems that they have won, but when J'onn and John atttempt to recombine, they cannot do so. The spell Morgan used to split Blood and Etrigan has also been cast on Jones.
