Chronology: The events in this story took place approximately fifteen years ago

Synopsis:

The Challengers of the Unknown investigate a recently abandoned nuclear test site in Siberia, and are intercepted by a Soviet agent doing the same. They are all then overrun by mutated creatures under the command of Zarra, who claims to be the rightful heir to the Russian throne. Much chaos, and a possible atomic explosion, ensue, and in the process, the Challs lose sight of the Russian agent, who was beginning to grow on Ace.

Synopsis:

The recently deceased Deadman investigates the murder of a former circus colleague - a member of the freak show. In the process he discovers deep-rooted prejudice and fear, and subtly teaches the investigating officers a thing or two.

Synopsis:

On his way to Los Angeles to start a new life, Changeling has the misfortune to be seated next to a disguised Mr 104, who has spent quite some time re-assembling his molecules since his 'death' with the Suicide Squad. He thinks Changeling is pursuing him and a big fight ensues, sadly with no press opportunity for the hero.

Synopsis:

Wonder Woman discovers that her lassoo has gone missing, and when she hears that the Cheetah is on a rampage, she assumes that the fatal feline has got it. She tracks her foe down to Gateway City's zoo, where the villain is eventually apprehended in the crocodile pit. However, she has a faux copy of a map to Paradise Island in her possession rather than the lassoo, which Wonder Woman eventually locates in the care of Wonder Girl, who 'borrowed' it in order to extract a confession from a school bully.

Fifth Story: "Heart of Tin" (10 Pages)

Synopsis:

The Metal Men are slowly going mad since they are deprived of human contact almost completely. They are saved, however, by Tin, who has been plucking up the courage to speak to his mother, who gladly accepts all of the Metal Men into her fold. Heart-warming.

Synopsis:

Every year, the inhabitants of Armagetto on Apokolips lay a bunch of flowers in the centre of a square in their city as a symbol of hope and defiance. Darkseid is adamant that this year it will not go ahead, and his Commander Tusk sends a large deployment of shock troops into the hunger dogs' living area. However, despite all efforts, the citizens, with a little help from Scott Free, succeed in their plan by a combination of wits and bravery.

Seventh Story: "Bedtime Story" (10 Pages)
