Synopsis:

In 1951, the members of the Justice Society are forced into retirement by the House Un-American Activities Committee, which claims to have evidence that the heroes have consorted with foreign agents. Unwilling to unmask and prove their innocence, they are forced underground, a fact which hurts some of them deeply. Per Degaton plans to exploit this moment of weakness.

Now, Stargirl reflects on recent events and spends some time with her family, only to see them attacked and killed at the breakfast table by time-travelling gunmen. She is then approached by Rip Hunter, who says that this was not supposed to happen, and recruits her help in stopping Degaton's plans in the 1950s which are rippling out to the present day. Travelling back with him in his Time Sphere, she encounters Hunter's other recruits. She is glad to see most of them, except Atom Smasher, as she cannot excuse his actions in Kahndaq. The group have very little time to persuade their JSA precedessors to band together one final time to prevent Degaton's plans. They split up, knowing this will be the fastest way to achieve their goals.
