Synopsis:

The JSA fight to rescue their team-mate Sand on two fronts - within the Earth and in the realm known as the Dreaming. In the Dreaming, they encounter additional resistance from Brute and Glob, the rogue nightmares who are manipulating him. This is particularly frustrating for Doctor Fate and Fury who have encountered these beings before. Meanwhile, under the Earth's surface, other members of the JSA encounter stone beings which appear to be acting as Sand's antibodies. While her colleagues deal with these antibodies, Power Girl grabs Sand's red-hot body and begins to haul it towards the surface. In the Dreaming, Brainwave is able to enter Sand's mind, jogged by memories of his feelings for Hawkgirl, and free him from Brute and Glob's mental hold. Sand's body and mind are re-united and he rejoins his friends and colleagues in the JSA. Later, Hourman finally manages to summon up the courage to meet Wendi, his former wife who knows he has been dead for years.
