Synopsis:

Few of the JSA are asleep. Hourman is still trying to summon up the courage to meet with Wendi, while the rest are suffering from nightmares and insomnia. They are disturbed further by a localised earthquake, which leaves the letters 'JSA' imprinted in the road outside the Brownstone. Meanwhile, Nabu is raging against the former Doctor Fates inside the current Fate's amulet. Fury and the current Doctor Fate help to even the balance by giving power back to these former bearers of the mantle. The JSA call in Cave Carson, realising that the mini-quake was a message from Sam. Doctor Fate also gets a message from his son, Dream, who tells him that Sand's mind is trapped in the Dreaming just as his body is trapped in the Earth. The heroes split into two teams. One team, accompanied by Fate, Fury and Brainwave, heads into the world of the Dreaming, while the others are aided by Cave Carson and his team to take a trip into the Earth. Both teams encounter the unexpected - inside the Earth, they are greeted by numerous stone beings, while those in the dreaming find themselves in a sandstorm before Hawkgirl encounters Sand, calling himself Sandman and wearing the costume which Garret Sandford and Hector Hall wore in that role.
