Synopsis:
Mordru attempts to kill Hawkgirl, but is prevented from doing so by the arrival of the teams from Tibet and Venice. Mordru escapes from the heroes and arrives at Dr Fate's tower, which is where Scarab had gone to. He is confronted by Scarab, but easily strips him of his power, and begins a ritual he hopes will give him the power of Dr Fate. He is opposed by a determined Star-Spangled Kid and by the rest of the JSA, who are unable to offer much resistance.
The Star-Spangled Kid is drawn into Fate's amulet, where the spirit of Kent Nelson instructs her to find Scarab's power source (the Scarabeus) and place it on the Fate child's chest. As she does so, the child is aged into the new incarnation of Dr Fate.
