When Aquaman and Green Lantern attempt to intercept this, a military submarine is able to scramble Lantern's brain patterns, causing his ring to fail. Aquaman has to rush his colleague to the surface, meaning he gets the bends and the malefactors get away. Meanwhile, Superman investigates the Ultramarines, a group of military personnel transformed into heroes to serve the United States. He realises that they have a purpose beyond this, as their sponsor, Wade Eiling, is lying about them to soem degree. Plus, the New Gods of New Genesis receive warning that Mageddon is on its way to Earth, and the JLA discover reports of a hostile alien invasion in Phoenix. However, when they arrive there in force, they can see no aliens, and instead come under attack from the Ultramarines. |
