Synopsis:

The JLA and JSA, gathering together for Thanksgiving (as well as to discuss better coordination between the two groups) have their social activities interrupted by an incident in Africa, where Lex Luthor is attacked by Doctor Bedlam. On their return from this, various members of the groups begin to act very oddly, soon attacking their colleagues and destroying the JSA brownstone. It quickly becomes apparent that they have been possessed, sending some of their team-mates to Fate's tower and some of them to the limbo of Ragnarok. The reserves are called into action.

The unaffected heroes left on Earth discover that their friends have been possessed by the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man, personifications of the deadly sins. Mister Terrific is Pride, Green Lantern is Envy, Plastic Man is Greed, Batman is Anger, Doctor Fate is Sloth, Power Girl is Lust and Captain Marvel is Gluttony, and their influence spreads to the ordinary people around them. The masterminds of this are revealed as Johnny Sorrow and Despero (who has inhabited Lex Luthor's body) and they key to their defeat is found in the power of Shazam. The sins are exorcised and once captured, Johnny Sorrow is forced to expel Despero from Luthor's body. In gratitude, Luthor arranges for a new JSA headquarters to be built in New York.
