Synopsis:
Stargirl rescues Captain Marvel with help from Atom Smasher while the rest of the JSA battle Black Adam and the Atom encounters Mister Mind inside Brainwave's head. Doctor Fate is able to resist Nabu and regain control, also freeing Fury from the amulet as he does so. With the tide turning against Black Adam, whose only allies standing are the ordinary people of Kahndaq, a deal is struck at Captain Marvel's suggestion. The JSA will not interfere in Kahndaq, given that Adam has indeed liberated his people from a brutal dictator, but he must not extend his influence beyond the country's borders. The JSA return home with new allies Fury and Hourman, and with Brainwave now free of Mister Mind's influence. Northwind and Atom Smasher, however, choose to remain in Kahndaq with Black Adam.
Once home, Merry Pemberton is delighted to have her son back, but the JSA are not pleased with how events turned out. Hawkman is asked to step down from the Society, and does so, returning to St. Roch to face his mistakes.
