| November 9: To help thwart the invasion of England by Nazi Germany, President Roosevelt supplies Brittish Intelligence (MI-5) with the services of Flash and Green Lantern, who undertake a secret mission against fifth columnists in Scotland, but are defeated and taken to Berlin to be executed. Learning of their capture, Dr. Fate takes Hourman with him to free the heroes, but Valkyries are summoned from the Asgardian plane to battle them. Fate then summons Sandman, Atom, Hawkman, and the Spectre from America to help the Brittish successfully repel the German naval attack. Then the heroes suddenly find themselves in Washinton D.C. where they unite in stopping a long-range bomber from launching a missile over the White House. The Atom then saves the president from being killed by a valkyrie, whereupon the warrior-maidens vanish. The eight heroes then deside to meet a few weeks later to officially form the Justice Society of America. | Secret Origins #31 |
November 22: The first meeting of the Justice Society of America took place, and the group was officially formed. Hawkman is elected team chairman. Johnny Thunder and The Red Tornado sneak into the meeting. Johnny Thunder given honorary status. They begin on their first case, tracking down spies suspected by J. Edgar Hoove (he is awarded "associate status").

| While treating an important witness against a top mobster, Dr. Charles McNider is caught in a bomb blast meant for his patient. Allthough he survived, McNider is blinded by the blast seemingly ending his career. Sometime later he discovers that he has regained his sight in darkness and is only incapable of seeing in daylight. This discovery leads him to create the costumed identity of Dr. Mid-Nite. | |

| Museum curator Dr. Moresby found the block of ice, that had kept the Sir Justin in suspended animation since the 6th century, floating off Englands coast. Moresby freed the ancient warrior and brought him to New York City and gave him the identity of Justin Arthur, his assistant. Later, Sir Justin stopped a group of group of criminals that had robbed the museum. After that he decided to keep on fighting injustice as the Shining Knight. | |

| December 7: The JSA'ers (exept for Hawkman, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Atom) are captured by Per Degaton a time traveller from 1947 and his helpers Wotan, Solomon Grundy, the Alchemist, and the Sky Pirate, all of whom he had plucked from sometime in the future. The JSA'ers were then brought to a cavern beneath a volcanic isle, where they were held captive by Wotan's magic auras. | |
| 7:55 A.M. the Japaneese initiated an unexpected aerial attack on Pearl Harbor. | |

As the news reach the U.S., the President send out for the JSA. Hawkman I, Atom I, and Dr. Mid-Nite responded to the calling and were joined by Liberty Belle, Johnny Quick, and Robotman. Together the six heroes agreed to join forces as the All-Star Squadron upon the request of President.
The heroes then sat out to find and rescue the missing JSA'ers, and with the help of Phantom Lady I and the Shining Knight they succeeded. Degaton and the other villains however managed to escape as they were sent back to the time their own time. | |

Denette Reilly discovered that her brother was also the hero known as Firebrand. When Danette tried on one of her brothers costumes she suddenly burst into flames. Realizing that she was able to control the flow of the flames she decided to assume the identity of Firebrand II and joining the Squadron.
Later Hawkman I, Atom I, Dr. Mid-Nite, Liberty Belle, Shining Knight, Johnny Quick, and Firebrand II took off for Mexico to find Shiera Hall. Here they encountered the Feathered Serpent, who held Shiera captive. ..... | |
