SHOWCASE VOL. 1 #22
September-October 1959 [$0.10]

Cover Credits: Gil Kane (pencils, inks)

Story: "SOS Green Lantern" (6 Pages)

Credits: John Broome (plot, script); Gil Kane (pencils); Joe Giella (inks); Julius Schwartz (edits)

Comments: Various details concerning Green Lantern's origin have been retconned over the years. Following the reality-changing Crisis on Infinite Earths a new version of Green Lantern's origin was told in the mini-series Emerald Dawn. The events shown in this issue were mostly kept intact but merely expanded upon. Following another reality-changing event known as Infinite Crisis Green Lantern's origin was retconned again in the Secret Origin storyline in Green Lantern Vol. 4 #29-#35, this time with a lot more revisions to history. The basics of this first meeting were kept intact though.
Abin Sur's chronology has also been revamped a number of times, giving us different accounts of how he ended up on Earth.
