Heat Wave tracks the serial killer Murmur on behalf of the FBI unit he's been working for, and looks back over his life and his fascination with fire. He remembers the time that he burnt his home down and watched as his entire family perished, unable to tear his eyes away from the beautiful flames. And the circus where he spent some time as a fire-eater - that went up in flames, too. He remembers his life of crime with the Rogues in Central City, and how he tried to reform, to work on fire prevention, but he knows that his fascination with fire and flame is a part of him. He constantly feels the desire to watch things burn. When he does encounter Murmur, the killer gets away because he is rescued by Captain Cold - Pied Piper and James Jesse tell Heat Wave that this isn't his fault, but Heat Wave doesn't quite believe them.
